Cookbook sampler party

Our cookbook sampler party was a huge success! Thanks to all families who sent in such delicious samples of their recipes! Yummy!! Most students are very excited to now try some of their favourite new recipes at home! And I have to say that I am as well! :)

I hope to see you at our Christmas concert tomorrow afternoon. I am still trying to upload the video of our dance on the blog. It is not as easy as I thought due to the length of the video. I will keep trying though....so keep checking!!

Christmas Assembly dance

Our dance with Meghan is now complete!! We continuing to practise until it's 'perfect' twice a week!

We were discussing costumes. Since the song is Alvin & the Chipmunks, and the kids are each playing one of the chipmunks, we thought it would be a good idea if Simons dressed in blue shirts, Theodores wore green shirts, and Alvins dressed in red shirts. Dark pants or blue jeans for pants for everyone. Thanks!!!!

*please keep in mind when preparing your cookbook recipe for our sampler party on dec 17, that our school is nut safe. If your recipe includes nuts, please don't add the nuts for that day.

Each student made a square for our class pioneer quilt. This is the finished product. Looks great!

We had a great day today!

We each made a corn husk doll, quilt square and butter. Then we made apple pies to share. We wrote stories pretending to be a pioneer child. We did our work (adding, subtracting, spelling, word families) on slates and used our hands and feet to measure things around the school. We played pioneer games. Ask your child how to play Buzz!

We had a fabulous trip to the Heritage Village in Kingsville today! Many thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers and a big thank you to our class for being so well behaved! It was a great day!!

Building our toys!

Thank you to all you parents and guardians for your assistance planning the toys with your children! The process went very smoothly as everyone remembered to bring their plans and materials! (A first for me!) I am hoping to share some pictures of the students with their creations on this blog so you can see what the other students made.
